  • Unity

Balance can be symmetrical or evenly balanced or asymmetrical and un-evenly balanced. Different elements of design such as objects, values, colors, textures, shapes and forms can be used in integrated into a jewelry piece to create a balance in a composition.

A relationship is created when two or more elements such a size, color, quantity, etc., are combines in a piece of jewelry. Rythm in jewelry design - contemporary turquoise RHYTHM Is based on repetition that brings your jewelry designs a pleasing and simple consistency.

Rhythm is the way your eye moves throughout a piece. It can have an inviting on-going flow or stop at different intervals creating an inviting focal point.

Rhythm is related to music and composition. Rhythm in a piece of jewelry is usually dynamic and flowing, not unlike a staccato rhythm in a musical composition.

Rhythm is usually created by the effective repetition of design elements such as colors, shapes, lines, or textures.

In this turquoise necklace I created a sense of rhythm and balance by the way I positioned the focal point and the silver beads in a symmetrical way.

EMPHASIS: A method used to attract attention in the design of a page or work of art is the use of a focal point. It is a way of making the element that is most important stand out in the design. Emphasis is sometimes called dominance.

In order to integrate a sense of balance in a piece of jewelry it is important to avoid making every part of the piece stand out. This distracts from the focal point and can make a piece look busy, boring and unappealing.

Instead, focus on creating a visual hierarchy in your jewelry designs. By adding a center of interest, an area that is more important than the others, your composition will seem harmonious.

When you integrate the basic design principles you will obtain success every time you produce a new jewelry piece!
